Weekend Recap

With this week being officially summer I counted the days I had off until September (when to me summer is over) and I have 30 days. Which seems like a lot but at the same time I know it will fly by with summer activities, events and all the other usual weekend/life things. This weekend was a glimpse into our summer…

Friday

I was on the fence if I wanted to run with my race the next morning but decided on a fast 5km, I did 5km in 24 minutes and called it a night! We watched Table 19 later which was not too bad for a comedy.

Saturday

We had the Troubled Monk 10km so spent the morning at the race since it is much more than that – beer, drinks, and music! I will recap the race this week 🙂

Since Chloe napped on the race when we got home she was not having her usual nap so we played outside for the afternoon.

It was the perfect temperature, not too hot with some clouds.

We had my Mom over for supper then later my brothers and girlfriends came over for a games night – I stayed up way too late and might have had a tad too much wine 😉

Sunday

Thankfully the girls let us sleep until 7am! We spent a couple hours doing chores etc before heading out for brunch with Chad’s family at his Dad’s camping area. We only spent a couple hours there since after we had a surprise birthday party to attend in another town.

Trying to get a photo before we left, one looked at me, the other looked away – repeat x10, kids 😉

Both girls had mini naps on the drive to the party, which was just long enough to power through a couple hours there before heading back home. Both girls fell asleep again on the way home so we took the long way and grabbed iced coffees for the drive.

Our 2017 Father’s Day photo:

I think this guy deserves WAY more than what I pulled together for his day, but I did manage to do these photos for his office:

We had an early supper then headed to the park for an hour before baths and bed.

Such a busy weekend but that is summer! This week is another busy one, we have landscapers coming to go over our yard plan, our neighbours are hosting a BBQ & I need to find a time to have my Grandma visit the girls since we had no time this weekend.

Foodie Friday

Hey All!

So when I did my post on Avery at 3.5 years I am pretty sure I jinxed the no tantrums – she has had two major ones this week. Oy. But I am pretty sure she is growing since she also woke up with growing pains in her legs this week. So yeah it has been a week 😉

Chloe has had an eventful week, fell off Avery’s bed before work that morning and that day while my in-laws were babysitting she attempted to crawl out of her crib after her nap and fell. She is a tough cookie though and was not hurt.

What else this week? I ran Wednesday and it was perfect after a couple days of rain. Sorry no photo!

We got a surprise in the mail Monday! Thanks to Clif for the goodies, their nut butter filled bars are to die for – if you have not had one yet, run to the grocery store now!

Last night Chad went for a run for I put Chloe in the BOB and Avery ran with me to “train” for some upcoming races she is doing, 1.83km in just over 16 minutes!

On our walk after she found this field and would not leave!

Semi twinning!

Onto meal planning..

Saturday –Bison burgers & The Best Summer Berry Kale Salad – Balanced Berry

Sunday – Friend’s BBQ

Monday – Picnic (Avery and I are going to go to yoga in the park!)

Tuesday – Avocado Veggie Quesadillas – Gimme Delicious

Wednesday – Chopped Greek Kale Salad – Gimme Some Oven and Confetti Squares for our Summer Solstice Neighbourhood BBQ

Thursday – Thai Peanut Chicken Quinoa Bowls – Iowa Girl Eats

Friday – Greek Turkey Tacos

We have a semi crazy weekend ahead, a race, father’s day get together, a birthday party and a games night!

Interview with Avery – 3.5 Years

I have done this before and want to every 6 months or so to look back on. Last weekend I asked Avery some questions then took some photos of her to remember 3.5 years of age 🙂

She is growing up way too fast, I look back on photos from a year ago and can hardly believe my eyes when I look at her now. In some photos she looks more like 12 to me than 3.5.

She is my little “gold” child through and through. Everything is okay when kept in routine and order 😉 She is a pretty smart little cookie though hides it from us then when we are not paying attention she will do/say things that have us thinking “really?!”.

I feel like these last 6 months she turned a new page and her listening is way better, temper tantrums are rare and 95% of the time she is pretty darn happy. I joke that this summer would have been much better to have off with her than last 😉

Okay onto her “interview:

Weekend Recap

I think this was the first rainy weekend in almost a month, lets hope it stays that way for the next month 😉

Friday

We had the day off and went hiking with the girls. We plan to do one month through to September and some longer ones so thought this would be a test run. We went to Bragg Creek and did the Fullerton Loop. It was 6.4km roundtrip and family-friendly according to the online description. I would say it was an easy hike but the part we missed was the 600 foot elevation gain – both carrying 25-35lbs – OY. It was a semi cloudy day so worked out well for the way up and just as we came down out came the sun and blue skies!

Lunch in the truck before the hike:

After we explored Bragg Creek – it is a cute town! We had ice cream, bought rocks, and got coffee to go.

Both girls slept the entire drive home, so since Avery had a late nap we watched Lego Batman after Chloe was in bed.

Saturday

We woke up to rain and spent the morning running errands.

In the afternoon Avery and I went to a birthday party at the gymnastics club and she loved it. She surprised me by hanging from the rings and dropping into the foam pit and bouncing off the trampoline in the pit!

We spent the rest of the day baking and hanging out at home.

Sunday

It was a cloudy morning but long runs don’t care about weather so off we went for 16km.

The cool weather was fine but the humidity was hard a couple times! We ended up running 16.5km to get coffee after then walked home – perfect cool down 😉

Sunday is chores day, so i even put the girls to work sweeping the spider webs off the railings on the porch:

My Mom bought A the cutest romper at a market so even though it was a cloudy day she had to wear it:

Some days the girls fight over whose photo I am taking so now if they are both willing both get photos…Chloe’s “ootd 😉

My crew:

We later went to my sister-in-law’s to meet our 3 week old nephew and visit.

He was so alert! Chad loves babies (no joke) so got his cuddles in.

And that was a wrap to our weekend!

Foodie Friday

This week has been an off one, on Tuesday I thought it was Thursday, Wednesday morning I thought it was the weekend and well yesterday was my Friday so I panicked at lunch thinking I did not do this post!

I was out of town one day for work so got home early and we did a park trip. My girls would stay at the park all day if we could!

With the great weather continuing I ran a couple nights:

Outtake – I never get a good running photo on attempt #1!

Avery pretending to fly – to be three!

And this one, she does not stop unless she is eating or sleeping. EXCEPT I found her sitting in Avery’s room (the best!) looking at books which lasted almost a full minute!

Last night we checked out the new Goodlife Fitness gym that opened by us, I was there on work duties since we had a presentation congratulating them. They had an amazing turnout and it was a ton of fun – they know how to throw a grand opening!

Oh and these two beforehand, such hams 😉

Today we are off work and going on a little adventure – just hoping for no rain! Other weekend plans are a birthday party and meeting our baby nephew since it is supposed to be rainy we kept it to indoor plans.

Onto meal planning…

Saturday – Smokies & Greek Kale Quinoa Salad – Chef Savy

Sunday – Turkey burgers & strawberry, avocado & spinach salad

Monday – “Gourmet” Mac & Cheese

Tuesday – Cod & Chicken Pasta Salad – Pulse

Wednesday – Quinoa Veggie Fried Rice – Damn Delicious

Thursday – Chicken Burrito Bowl –  Damn Delicious with Cilantro Lime Chicken – The Lean Green Bean

Friday – Tuna Melt quesadillas – Garlic & Zest

Enjoy your weekends!
