Weekend Recap

I really wish we had an extra two months of summer – I mean I love all seasons but summer is the best ๐Ÿ™‚

Friday

After work I went for a quick 5km run before company came over and we hung out in the yard. My brother and girlfriend showed up later and we had a fire and made s’mores so Avery got to go to bed extra late.

“Hey girls – can I take your picture?” – “Yeah right Mom…”

Saturday

It was the kickoff pancake breakfast for our local fair. It is always busy but this year was crazy – it took us over an hour to get through the line! Good thing they had a lot to do for the kids waiting ๐Ÿ™‚

Chloe’s first pigtails:

Avery checking out the firetruck:

We had our pancakes, went through the mall to see the Paw Patrol characters that were there and it was another huge line SO Avery took a peek and was happy – mom win.

Chad golfed in the afternoon so the girls, my Mom and I did some exploring downtown and went to Starbucks.

Chloe’s shorts are from an Alberta company she is a new rep for – Prairie Mountain & Co – are they not the cutest?! Yes, I finally decided to take the plunge into rep world!

Later we headed to supper with my family for a few birthdays (there are too many now so we combine!) and well lets say Chloe is not going out to eat for a long time!

I asked Avery to pose for a photo in her dress – she always picks tree pose ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had a quiet night at home watching TV ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunday

Avery woke up not feeling too hot (she blamed supper – lol) so my Mom watched them while we did our long run – 19.6km. OY. I am ready to race!

Since Avery was not feeling too great and the weather looked iffy we called the beach off and hung out at home. I was kind of relieved since I had a long to do list and managed to get some things done at home.

Avery’s request was painting and well I will not let Chloe near paint so mess free painting for her!

Chloe and I played in the yard while Avery had a rest:

Supper was my favourite in a long time, grilled chicken, garlic toast and Caprese Salad with Barilla pasta!

Foodie Friday

I cannot say we had an exciting week really. I took a few photos though! Avery spent every morning at a day camp and LOVED it.

She has one more camp in a couple weeks so I am hoping she loves it just as much!

I got in a tempo run Wednesday night since it was a little cooler than the previous week.

Check out that air! Kidding – I think its an illusion ๐Ÿ˜‰

The girls before bed Tuesday night and trying to love each other ๐Ÿ˜‰

Meal planning these days has the theme of easy! I just am not in a cooking mood most evenings right now.

Tuesday – Chicken Veggie & Brown Rice Bowls with Peanut Sauce – Cooking Classy

Chloe – 15 Months

I wanted to keep on par with Avery’s posts and well I did one for her at 16 months but felt like doing C’s a month early ๐Ÿ™‚

Where to start!? Ts girl continues to keep us on our toes every waking moment. I mean where does she get her energy? The phrase “It is a good thing they are cute” applies to her 110%.

She started to walk just after she turned a year BUT took her another two months to not walk like she was drunk ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lucky gal gets her coordination from me. Which means A LOT of bumps and bruises. I swear one goes away for another one to appear.

She still does not say too many words but she is pretty darn efficient with her grunts and pointing. We need to start getting her to say words versus just going along with it – but hey it works for now! New words – bird, bubbles (a favourite), purple – because her cup is purple, cup – I think that is all though.

Her comprehension amazes me. I can say “we are going outside” and instantly she gets up and goes to the bathroom to get sunscreen (she is oddly obsessed with sunscreen) then shows me where to put it, then goes gets her hat, shoes and points to where we keep the sunglasses and finally to the door. Oh and she can open doors now – joy.

Speaking of opening things she LOVES to open every door and cupboard she can, get into whatever and make a mess – on the upside she also loves to “clean up”…or run away from us with random objects and tries to hide them on us.

Good thing she is cute:

Life without that face would not be near as fun, we laugh at her too many times a day and she is constantly trying to make us laugh.

She loves Avery (almost as much as she loves to bug her) and her face lights up every morning when she sees her ๐Ÿ™‚

Music is another obsession, she cannot help but dance at every 2 seconds of music she hears no matter where she is.

She is a great eater and loves her food. She would eat 24/7 if we let her I am sure and is rarely picky. We still are dealing with a dairy intolerance but it has not been too bad to avoid and I am hoping now she grows out of it.

She is just finally getting more teeth. From January-May she got zero teeth and just go three molars to bring her up to 9 teeth so I expect to see more teeth very soon.

As always I am excited to see what they next few months bring (teeth and all!) with Miss. Chloe – I know she is only going to add more fun to our little family as she grows.

Weekend Recap

Our heat wave continued all weekend long – nobody can say we did not have a good summer this year!

Friday

I took the day off since I had a couple appointments and my mother-in-law was visiting from B.C. I had a pedicure in the morning and a hair appointment in the afternoon = day made. In between we went for lunch and took the girls to a park/spray park area but neither wanted in their bathing suits.

Not even sure what we did that night now! I think it must’ve been an early bedtime ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturdayย

We escaped kid free to do our grocery shopping thanks to Grandma!

We spent the afternoon our at Ellis Bird Farm for their festival with my mother-in-law, my mom, Grandma, Chad’s Grandma and Aunt!

It was hot but the girls had fun, we saw goats, chickens, fished for minnows, built a birdhouse and other crafts too!

Just realized I made it in no photos – fail!

We got home to a finished patio in our backyard! We had landscapers start Friday after work and work their butts off to get it done in 10 hours, so happy with it! This is probably all we will get done this year and finish the rest next year:

Later I headed to a stagette, we did a paint night at a friend’s house then supper.

We called it a night at 11pm – mom life ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sunday

Thanks to Grandma again we escaped for a run without the girls! 20km was on the agenda and it was humid! We stopped at 10km, got more water and tossed some on our face which helped a ton. But by 20km we were done.

I thought we might go for a bike ride or the spray park for the afternoon but with storm warnings in place we stuck around home.

I finally broke my camera out for a few photos – I have to do this more!

And that was our weekend!

Foodie Friday

Can time slow down?? I feel like it was just June!

Our week was a fast one with the holiday Monday. The girls have been so tired with playing at dayhome all day and the heat. Tuesday Avery was in bed at 6:45pm! Chloe enjoyed coconut milk ice cream with Dad while Avery slept – shhh ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh and her 4th of July dress/photo:

Sadly she came down with a rash Wednesday and while it looks no fun she is happy as can be ๐Ÿ™‚

Wednesday night I went for a run, I slacked in June on my kilometers so this month I need to focus on gaining some back.

I was bummed Chloe was sick but Chad reminded me it could always be worse – SO true!

Yesterday the girls had a day with Chad’s Dad and then his Mom arrived after work from B.C. and she is spending the weekend with us ๐Ÿ™‚
