Over the past few years there has been a few really great local fun runs pop up in our city and I love that we have been able to be a part of them since the start!
This was the 4th Chocolate Chase, my first one I did 6 months pregnant with Avery! This year it grew to include a kid’s race as well as a 10km – both which we participated in.
This is hands down the best race for creating a fun, family friendly atmosphere with some great swag and giveaways at the event.
Both girls did the kids race to start, which was just a semi-circle but good/long enough for them! It was Chloe’s first race – and a success! I was helping out so sadly did not get any photos of them running.
The 10km started right after – to the point we raced through the start line! The route itself started on a big downhill, went across the train bridge, along the river then onto more trails and just before the 5km turn around there was another big hill to go up. They had no shortage of water (and chocolate!) stations which is always a bonus.
Chad did most of the stroller pushing, I only took it after hills so he could recover 😉 Our previous 10km stroller run time was just over 53 minutes so we hoped to beat that time.
Because the course was an out and back we ended up a big hill but it was not too bad and we powered up it to the finish line at 52:55!
Thanks to our friend, Mary for the photo and IG shout-out!
It is not a chipped race but they do have a clock to see your time which is nice.
After is when the fun begins! From gelato from Famoso, Cuppitycakes cupcakes, Subway cookies (a hit with the kids!), Bernard Callebaut chocolates (the main sponsor), Starbucks coffee and more – your tummy and sweet tooth will leave satisfied!
I loved this photo frame they had for photos!

There is also face painting for the kids – shockingly Avery did not want her face painted! Bouncy houses and balloon animals.
I forgot that they have awesome raffle prizes that everyone gets an entry to with your race registration and you can buy more tickets. I always buy more since it is for a good cause (building a no barriers playground) and the past two years have walked away with a package. This year Avery was the lucky one and won a kids gardening package.
So local people – make sure to watch for this event next year! There is also a 3/5km walk/run – so a distance and event for everyone 🙂
