Family Photos 2017

Family photos for me are a yearly necessity. I find myself more behind the camera than in photos so capturing us all together in more than one photoΒ  is important.

This year I wanted photos done in Canmore, it is one of our favourite places and so beautiful! We had our photos early October and here that means it could be 15 and sunny or -15 and snowing. So the 2 degree weather seemed like an okay compromise with Mother Nature.

Once we got to Canmore it was between sunny and cloudy with a cold wind, then as we got out to go and meet Whitney some snow started to fall!

The girls are troopers in cold weather but one thing they hate? The wind – just like me. And it was windy. So we made a change of plans and went into the trees more for shelter. The girls did great the first little bit but when we tried to go up to the bridge they were less thrilled. That then carried into the rest of the shoot. But I told myself that photos with a one and three year old would be what they would so we rolled with it.

Avery -I am jealous of how photogenic she is!

Whitney is nothing short of amazing and made it work – and I could not be more happy with the final photos! Even the tears made for great photos – sorry Chloe πŸ˜‰

It was super cute that Chloe got upset and Avery went to hug her:

When all either girl wanted was me to hold them and Avery would not let go of her blanket – mom fail for letting is tag along!

Mom life in one photo:

Chad finally got smiles from Miss. Serious with tickles:

Us trying our hardest to get the girls to have fun:

Avery was super impressed πŸ˜‰

You would never know the girls were crying at our legs in this photo:

I have already ordered a million prints, trying to narrow done what ones I want as canvases and then I have to pick the ones for our Christmas cards!

Weekend Recap

And just like that we have two days of October left! There is still no snow outside so fingers it crossed says that way for a couple more weeks πŸ˜‰

We had Avery’s playschool Halloween party. She is being a vampire this year which shocked us that she was not a princess but she said she had to be something spooky πŸ˜‰

Not too spooky πŸ˜‰

All the other girls were princesses and I thought she might be upset but she did not care, only when someone called her Batgirl – then she snapped “a vampire” back haha.

Friday night my Mom, my brother’s girlfriend, Avery and I headed to the craft sale. Avery did some shopping damage but we did find some gifts too!

Some of our haul:

We started our day with the last swim lesson and both girls did great. Avery will repeat this lesson since she missed doing a few things (like wearing a life jacket) which is fine since I would have her repeat regardless. Hopefully in Arizona we get lots of pool time in!

After errands and nap time we headed out for flu shots. Avery was fine with it and I thought for sure last minute she would loose it. But nope, she chatted to the nurse, watched her prep the needles while holding her sleeve down for the needle. She is oddly obsessed with needles and anything medical related so this is not usual for her. She took the needle without a tear or whine which earned her Smarties πŸ˜‰ Chloe let out one scream and that was about it. Lets hope immunizations in a few weeks go as good!

We did a couple park stops on the way home, one a new barrier free playground and the other to go down a big slide:

We did not do much that night, watched a movie and headed to bed early!

I woke up to howling wind and saw it was 50km/hr gusts so there went our run outside. Instead we both did treadmill runs, me at home and Chad at the gym.

On Chad’s way home he stopped for some treats, coffee and cinnamon buns – I had been craving cinnamon buns for days!

I went a little stir crazy not getting out all day but we kept busy with my Grandma visiting, finishing my dresser, playing in sensory bins, baking brownies and carving pumpkins with my Mom, brother and his girlfriend.

Chloe was a tad crazy all day – I seriously need to find a way she can burn off energy this winter!

Finished pumpkins, carving with Chloe around was a challenge πŸ˜‰

Foodie Friday

Not too much to share from our week but a couple highlights:

Supper out with my Mom and the girls Tuesday night, nothing fancy (McDonalds haha) but it was nice not to cook and clean!

Getting our family photos back from Whitney!Β Our session quickly turned into a lifestyle session which I was a-okay with and LOVE the photos!

This one melts my heart. Chloe got upset and Avery instantly rushed to hug her.

I will share more soon!

And as always these two goofs:

So last week we had all vegetarian suppers and here are some thoughts of ours:

  • Suppers took way less time to cook!
  • Chad never complained – though he was out one night for supper and had fish
  • I did not miss meat.

This is not something we will do often, we typically like to have two vegetarian meals a week and will stick with that.

Saturday – Greek Kale Quinoa Salad & Smokies – Chef Savy

Sunday – Kale Turkey Pasta Bake – ifoodreal

Monday– Grilled Chicken Caesar Wraps & sweet potato fries

Tuesday – Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos – Belle of the Kitchen

Wednesday – Pizza night

Thursday – Easy Shrimp Fried Rice – Damn Delicious

Friday – Black Bean burgers & roasted cauliflower

Weekend plans include our last swimming lessons, flu shots (yay – haha), and pumpkin carving!

Currently posts are one of my favourite to post since it lets me share things I usually don’t get to.

Currently using… the charcoal mask from Beautycounter. I have never been one to use masks but love this one!

If you are curious about any Beautycounter products chat with my friend Brie!

Currently eating…all the Clif bars, there nut butter stuffed ones are my favourite!

Clif sent me this great package and the bars were gone in a couple days!

Currently excited for…running my second full marathon! Yup, I finally felt ready to run another full and everything fell into pace within a day. Long story short – we had plans to do a summer road trip to run Disney next summer but then all Disneyland 2018 races got cancelled, then one other thing we had planned to do on the road trip changed as well. At the same time my good friend registered for Phoenix and it got my thinking so I decided to go for it!

On February 24th Chad and I will be running the Phoenix Marathon!

Throwback to the Phoenix Half in February – our current half PR!

I partially think I am nuts but have already made my training plan that is three days running and two days cross training (spin at My Revolution!) which seems not too bad.

Currently working on…finishing my dresser! I am done both night tables and all the drawers so now I need to tackle the dresser and finish it before November when marathon training starts.

Currently reading… nothing for me! ha. But Avery’s preschool does Scholastic book orders which made me too excited πŸ˜‰ We got our last order a couple weeks ago.

Currently watching… I think my favourite show currently has to be Lethal Weapon!

What are you currently excited for?

Weekend Recap

I am always in shock when I look at the calendar and we are a week away from the end of a month, yet here we are again and next month is November! Ahh.

I did a quick HIIT workout once Chloe was in bed, then after Avery was in bed we watched a couple show and I fell asleep on the couch. Exciting night πŸ˜‰

Chloe has become obsessed with colouring, but she is not careful so we take off all clothing!

Another morning of swimming lessons and another class where Avery refused to wear her life jacket – help – we cannot get her in one for love or money! After we went to the grocery store where both girls had melt downs before this dog saved the day and got all the hugs and kisses.

I spent the afternoon cleaning and playing with Avery while Chloe stood in her crib for 90 minutes in a nap protest finally falling asleep an hour before we had to go.

Oh and I brought out this Barbie car I had stored away so got it out to surprise Avery and she lost her mind.

We had supper with Chad’s family and got spoiled with a turkey supper! The girls loving going there – check out all the awesome vintage toys!

I ended my night folding laundry and watching Fuller House.

We had a slow morning before heading out for a 12km run and it was the best weather for a run!

Our afternoon consisted of baking, more PlayDoh, Halloween crafts and visits with my family.

Chloe also loves Barbies these days – especially Avery’s, after this photo she took Ken for a bath in the toilet. But shhh Avery does not know yet πŸ˜‰

Avery insisted on wearing her fancy dress:

I am ready for a quiet week, meaning I only have one evening commitment.
