Weekend Recap

,Well it officially feels like the holiday season! I cannot believe it is here already but then again I feel like that every year!

Friday

I went to a Pound class/event that Becky put on – and it was awesome! Though it reassured me I have no coordination πŸ˜‰

Saturday

We spent the morning running errands, getting coffee and checking out critters at the pet store – Avery has become obsessed with getting a kitten (not happening though):

We grabbed Vietnamese food for lunch before heading home to avoid meltdowns and lets be honest save me from making lunch πŸ˜‰

Our afternoon was spent decorating for Christmas. I got everything done minus the tree while Chloe napped – win!

Chloe in her Santa hat, her prefers to walk around with it over her eyes…

We had an early supper then headed downtown for the light the night festival. It was a nice night so crazy busy.

Avery left upset she did not see Santa but the line up was hundreds of people long – no thank you!

We watched The Hitman’s Bodyguard once the girls were in bed, it was pretty good!

Sunday

It was a nice morning for a run so we did our long run (17km) outside:

The girls were pretty happy campers!

The key is snacks πŸ˜‰

I had plans to get outside in the afternoon but my tree took longer to get up (as usual) and it never really got sunny so instead we hibernated, listened to Christmas tunes and took our time with the tree:

All done!!

I was super worried with Chloe and the tree and while she definitely wants to grab ornaments etc she did really good listening so far.

It is only 8pm and I am now ready for bed!

Foodie Friday

This was on of our first normal weeks in a bit! We had no evening plans all week! It also flew by being a short work week. The snow has continued to fall here so I think we are in for a long winter… We spend a lot of time playing in the playroom these days, it had been a neglected room until now so I am glad the girls love it.

The girls also had their 18 month and 4 year old shots which went okay. Being that Avery was more aware of the needle now she panicked a bit when she saw the needle this time.

Since there is nothing else exciting from our week I will jump into meal planning! Oh and my favourite from last week? Greek turkey tacos!

Saturday – Salmon burgers & kale caesar salad

Sunday – Chicken Pot Pie soup & biscuits – Skinny Taste

Monday –Β Grilled Chicken Burrito Bowls – Dinner at the Zoo

Tuesday – Gourmet Mac & Cheese and roasted broccoli

Wednesday – Smokies, Perogies & salad

Thursday – Turkey Lettuce Wraps – Eat Youself Skinny

Friday – Tuna Wraps & fries

This weekend is the city hall park lighting – always a favourite event of mine to go to! Besides that I am crossing my fingers for a mild Sunday morning so we can get out for a run πŸ™‚

Phoenix Full Marathon Plan

In 3.5 (short) months Chad and I are running the Phoenix full marathon! I am pretty excited not only to do it together but to run another full. I ran my first and only full marathon in May 2011 and knew I would run another full but had to wait for the right time.

I really did not know when the time would be right but a month ago things fell into place and then I knew it was the full to run. I have learned a lot about running and my training needs since 2011 so feel this will help have a successful training period and race.

Back in 2011 I ran 5-6 days a week and did very little other forms of exercise. While I had a great race getting there meant mental and physical burnout. This time around I have fallen into a much more balanced activity routine that I think will help me avoid burnout.

Part of this routine involves consistent and hard cross-training. I have committed myself for the past three months to two days a week of spin classes and absolutely love it so knew I wanted to continue spin two days a week. This meant a three day a week marathon plan which I thought for sure would not exist or be recommended. But after some research I found quite the opposite. So the next thing I knew we were registering for the Phoenix full at the end of February!

Our training plan:

We have three runs to do 30km and over which for me is mentally the hardest part!

And if you are wondering how we plan to do this together with the girls – I really do not have an answer yet BUT I do know it is possible. When I had Avery a nurse in the hospital gave me the best advice, she told me “Now go home with this baby and love her, she is the best addition to your family but she is not the center of everything, remember yourself and your life too”. She nailed it. Which is why our kids are never an excuse and if anything a reason to do and be more.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was brought to us with lots of chicken noodle soup and gingerale πŸ™ Yup, the stomach flu hit our house!

Friday

We had my Mom and Grandma over for cake for Avery’s birthday. My Mom made Avery a yellow Belle cake as she requested:

I did a speed run once the girls were in bed and that was my night!

Saturday

Chloe was up twice Friday night since she puked. The first time I had no idea and woke up to Chad washing her sheets in the sink and her back to bed. Then shortly after I got sick and another 30 minutes later we heard Chloe getting sick again. She is such a trooper, let us clean her up, the bed and then went right back to sleep both times.

After a long time and no sleep for us I got up and was pretty useless all day. I do not remember the last time I could barely get off the couch without being sick.

We got out for a walk in the afternoon:

Avery’s favourtie gift, a jewelry box from my Mom:

I had a girls supper planned with friends and decided to try and go since I started to feel better. I am glad I went since I do not get to see those girls enough! I got home by 9pm and went straight to bed.

Sunday

Thankfully I woke up feeling great so we decided to go out for a run, we did 15km through a lot of fog and snow!

The start and end of our run:

My stomach felt off a couple times running but I fell pretty good besides that.

The faces of Chloe before our run:

That afternoon we went and saw my brother’s new house and their dog then had a movie night at home complete with a floor bed:

Monday

Chad was stomach flu victim #3 in the morning so our plans for the day changed to more rest!

I did a 8km tempo run in the morning then washed floors before we headed out to find new running shoes for Chad and I.

Chloe my shoe model:

Everyone (minus me) had two hour afternoon naps while I made cookies and had a friend over to visit. Later the girls and I headed out for supper with my family for my brother’s birthday.

And that is a wrap to our weekend! I am hoping the stomach flu is gone for good now!!

Foodie Friday

‘Tis the season for last minute posts these days… But today for one awesome reason – we spent yesterday at West Edmonton Mall for Avery’s birthday present! I would say it was a win as she told me a few times it was the “best birthday gift ever”.

We left in the morning so we could get there, wander a bit, have lunch then get to Galaxyland (amusement park) just as it opened. We spent all afternoon there with just one break to go to a couple stores then before we knew it it was 4:30pm so we left for supper and to head home.

Avery LOVES rides so it was perfect for her- I took Chloe on one and she was pretty unsure of it so she hung out with Chad while Avery, my Mom and I did rides.

This was by far her favourite ride! We had multiple rides on it!

I think my Mom was more excited than Avery here πŸ˜‰

We went to the Disney store and somehow Chloe got TWO things – poor second kid was so excited to have her own stuffed animals!

We also had to ride the little train a few times:

But it was all worth it for her excitement πŸ™‚

Now to switch gears – to less exciting things, meal planning! I did my planning on the drive home since I knew once I got home my brain might not work πŸ˜‰

Saturday – Leftovers – Girls night for me!

Sunday – Ratatouille Spaghetti – Wallflower Kitchen

Monday – Greek Turkey Tacos

Tuesday -Chickpea Veggie Stirfry – Two Peas & Their Pod

Wednesday – Pancakes, fruit and turkey bacon – This is what Avery requested for the week πŸ˜‰

Thursday – Chicken Taco Salad

Friday – Pizza Night!

It is a long weekend this weekend but we do not have a lot planned – just some extra rest I hope!
