Foodie Friday

10 days until Christmas!! I feel pretty ready for the big day, and just have a couple last things to do that should be done this weekend πŸ™‚

Some highlights from our week:

Avery and Chloe got their letter back from Santa:

They wrote a joint one since Chloe did not have much to say πŸ˜‰

Avery and I went with a friend and her son to see PJ Masks live. It was really good, lots of singing and not too long for the kids.

Since I do not have much else to share I will move into meal planning. My goal these days are simple and quick meals. Last week I felt like I was winning when two suppers were done in under 15 minutes!

Saturday – Southwest Veggie Wraps & sweet potato fries – Chocolate Slopes

Sunday – Slow Cooker Minestrone Soup & cheese and cilantro biscuits – Two Peas & Their PodΒ Β

Monday – Skillet Pasta with Ground Turkey and Tomatoes – Diethood

Tuesday – Salmon Tacos

Wednesday – Smokies & Couscous Greek Salad & garlic toast – Almond Zest

Thursday –Β 15 Minute Lo Mein – Damn Delicious

Friday –Β Chicken Pesto Pizza & salad

Our weekend plans are pretty minimal, but we are tackling our Christmas baking! Enjoy your weekends!

Weekend Recap

We went to my in-laws for supper and a visit since they just returned from a trip. It was a short visit with bedtimes but a good one πŸ™‚ I had a run to do that night then Avery and I curled up in bed and watched a Christmas movie – both of us fell asleep!

A typical morning of errands and a couple coffee shop stops for a eggnog latte battle – Chad and I both said we found the best ones πŸ˜‰ Turns out both are equally good though!

Chloe did not want to eat this cookie, maybe she lied the snowman too much?!

After lunch Avery and I headed to a princess tea put on by a local youth theatre in town. It was our first time going to one and won’t be our last! Avery loved dressing up, seeing all the princesses and eating endless treats and tea.

We sat with Belle (her favourite) but all the princess rotated through the tables, we had treats and the princesses got up to perform songs a few times.

By the time we got home it was almost supper. That night Chad’s cousin and girlfriend came over and stayed the night.

We started out day with pancakes and Avery was pretty excited we had overnight guests for “a slumber party” haha. Mid morning Chad’s Dad came over to watch the girls while we ran 23 km. We could not have asked for a better day to do so! 23km is Chad’s longest run ever and my longest in 7 years! I am feeling it right now πŸ˜‰

Later that day we headed out skating and to the park to enjoy the nice weather:

Avery is doing soo good on skates!

Chloe was not in a great mood so stuck to the playground πŸ˜‰

I had supper ready in the crockpot which was nice considering my energy level was a tad low by 5pm.

We ended our weekend watching Micky Mouse’s a Christmas Carol πŸ™‚

Foodie Friday

Just over a couple weeks until Christmas you guys!! All the squeals.

I do not have a lot to share from our week but found myself wishing a few times that I was not at work and outside with the girls enjoying the beautiful days we are having. Avery has asked every day to go skating!

I did pick up Christmas/winter jammies for the girls this week after Nicole’s idea to give them before Christmas Eve to enjoy them longer (great idea!) so will have to get photos of them in those once I have good lighting to do so – downside of working during the daylight hours in winter!

I wrapped some gifts and so far we have not had too many issues with the girls and them – but Avery asks all the time to open them, apparently “Christmas is taking forever”.

AND I got my Christmas Blog Swap goodies from Stacy!Β I have to share better photos later when I have real light πŸ˜‰ But it was the perfect package for us! The black ornament is a “Santa cam” which I just saw out somewhere and thought it was really cute!

Onto meal planning! Last week we gained a new favourite – Smoky Potato Chickpea Stew – seriously try it!

Saturday – Black bean burgers (Costco) & fries

Sunday – Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken & Veggies with kale Caesar salad – Damn DeliciousΒ

Monday – Turkey Taco Rice Skillet – Together as a FamilyΒ

Tuesday – Vegetable Stir-Fry

Wednesday – OUT

Thursday – Hoisin Stir Fry Bowls – Budget Bytes

Friday – Chicken Fajitas

Our weekend plans include a princess tea (Avery and i) and maybe some Christmas baking!

Currently Loving

I love almost everything about the holiday season! Except maybe the cold πŸ˜‰

This first one is not holiday related but a few products I have quickly grown to love from Beautycounter, their concealer pen, blush and charcoal mist.

My friend, Brie is a consultant so if you have any questions check out her site here.

Our new sprinkles from The Sparkling Pantry:

I bought these at the market my Mom and I went to last weekend and now want all the sprinkles off their Etsy site!

Speaking of the market, my Mom bought me this mug there:

So obsessed with it and it is perfect for me!

Getting outside in this nice weather! Winter is not so bad when it is not -20 and we can get outside and enjoy it. We have a rink behind our house and I hope to get out a lot to go skating – it was one of my favourite childhood activities πŸ™‚

Creating Christmas traditions with the girls, from baking cookies, decorating our gingerbread house, donating toys, making Christmas crafts – all these little things add up.

Our yearly family photo book from Mixbook:

I started creating these for us and our family members 4 years ago and not only do I love putting them together but looking back through them.

Our joint (early) Christmas gift to each other – Google Wifi. For some reason we have struggled to get decent Wifi in our entire house since moving in. So I am very happy to have Wifi in our entire house now!

Weekend Recap

Why do weekends go by so fast?!

It was my Christmas party and I took NO photos! Ahhh. We did a locked/escape room (and got out!) then had supper – we were home at 11pm and had a great time!

We spent an hour in the morning making Christmas ornaments which went really well considering we had a one year old helping πŸ˜‰ Both girls really like crafts right now so I am taking advantage!

Afterwards we went to see Santa at the mall, I had no hopes with Chloe and was right on the money – she lost it.

Two years in a row πŸ˜‰

My Mom and I went to a market in the afternoon and I found quite a few things!

Chloe in her new shirt – which was made for her πŸ˜‰

We did not do rest the much of the day – watched Christmas cartoons and relaxed πŸ™‚

It was a really foggy morning so we waited for it to clear before running but at 9:30am we gave up and went out, Turns out we should have done treadmill runs – it was darn cold, the girls were grumpy and nobody had a fun 18km! I was too cold to take a photo even! Luckily all our runs now are over 20km which means the treadmill OR we find sitters for the girls.

We came home, warmed up, dd another craft while Chloe napped, cleaned and then went skating.

It was Avery’s first time on real skates and Chloe’s first time out on the boot skates Avery used to wear. Both girls did great! Avery was skating on her own after 15 minutes and said she wants to go back tomorrow…

And now back to another week!
