Weekend Recap

We had such a great weekend, it was really low-key which meant a lot of time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Friday

I went for a run after supper then watched my favourite show, The Good Witch.

Saturday

My Mom, the girls and I had our annual Mother’s Day fun run. We all did the 5km then the girls had there 100m run after. Avery decided to do the 100m with Chloe vs the longer one which was fine with me. That is until the race, we all started to run and she said she was not running so instead I gave her to my Mom who was watching while Chloe took off running – she loved it!

We spent a ton of time on the bouncy castles that were there and visiting with friends and family. By the time we got home it was lunch and nap time!

Always fun getting a decent photo of us all ūüėČ

During naps I got groceries then we hung out in the yard for the afternoon. Avery even napped outside! After naps we played in their new pool:

We cleaned up for our family supper – we had yet to celebrate the four April birthdays and May one plus Mother’s Day. After we had my family over for a fire and s’mores.

Sunday

Chad surprised me with my Mother’s Day wish, a stick vacuum! When I asked for one I had no idea they are $$ but I got myself a fancy new Dyson! And even better were these candle holders the girls made me at dayhome:

Chad gave me the option of running alone but I would rather run with him and the girls so we did 14km then got breakfast and headed home.

We spent the entire day outside, I went and bought flowers, Avery and I planted them all, the girls played in the pool, I read my book, we had snacks, and the best part?! The girls did not fight!!

I am so used to go-go-go summers fitting it all in but after this weekend I think we will have a lot more quiet backyard days!

Foodie Friday

Well this week was uneventful – mainly since my cough has stuck around and I am pretty sick of it! We did do a fun DIY project Monday for Mothers Day – but cannot share yet!

I managed to run twice this week and get to spin class since it seems like doing cardio is the only time I am not coughing up a lung!

With that I am moving right into meal planning!

Saturday– OUT

Sunday – Greek Chicken Kabobs with rice & tzatziki – Cooking Classy

Monday –¬†Banh Mi Rice Bowls – Skinny Taste¬†

Tuesday – Fish Tacos with pineapple salsa

Wednesday – Pan Fried Sesame Tofu with Broccoli – Budget Bytes

Thursday – Tomato Spinach Chicken Spaghetti (sub’ing in turkey) – Julia’s Album

Friday – Chicken Smokies & Strawberry Cucumber Spinach Salad – yay for food

We have a fun weekend ahead and it looks like we will have plenty of sun too! A Mother’s Day fun “run”, gymnastics, and a family birthday(s) supper.

Enjoy your weekends!

Currently

With the changing seasons (ahem – winter to summer!) it is time to share some of my “currentlys”:

Currently excited for…SUMMER!

In a few weeks time we went from winter & sledding to what feels like July, running through the sprinkler in bathing suits:

I was so excited I picked up the girls this and know they will have a blast this summer with it!

Currently eating…tofu

I have always liked tofu but never tried hard enough to bake it the way I liked it. The other week I finally did and am obsessed now. 450 for 15 minutes, flip and another 15 minutes. Before I tossed in olive oil and soy sauce then coated in corn starch. Such an easy thing to add to meals and the family loves it too.

Currently wanting...Birkenstocks.

For the past few years I buy rip off ones but realize they fall apart so easily and then I am replacing them every year. My brother pointed out spending the extra money on Birkenstocks in actually worth it for this reason.

Currently watching…Shameless.

I know, I am SO late to the game on this one but I finally gave in and love the series!

Currently training for… Stampede Half Marathon!

After a few months off training and running in general I am back in it with our first “long” run of 12km last weekend.

I am also running at lunch time with my coworkers in preparation for a local 10km we are doing and really enjoying lunch runs!

Currently planning…my garden & backyard projects!

We have some major landscaping to do this summer after getting a professional plan last summer. I have a love/hate relationship with landscaping but excited to get it done this year. We are hoping to plant our garden in a couple weeks so stay tuned for that post!

Currently hoping… Chloe kicks her cold soon!

Poor girl has had a cold for over a week! From congestion and now a bad cough she is not catching a break. I get spring colds (and have a bad cough too) but am so over it, with the cough comes bad sleeps too!

Lindsey

What are you currently excited for?

Weekend Recap

Mother Nature continues to spoil us with summer like weather! We spent most of our weekend outside & I would not have it any other way!

Friday

Chad and I escaped for a date night to see the new Avengers movie. I am not a huge theatre person but it was still good…even if I was confused most of the movie!

Saturday

After a Costco run Avery and I went to gymnastics then she requested sushi we stopped to get some and buy groceries. We got home just after Chloe woke up from her nap – good timing!

We spent the afternoon doing some yard work and playing outside.

And a walk to the park:

After supper my Mom, Avery and I headed to the All Things Pretty market – we also met my brother and his girlfriend there! Sadly I did not find anything for myself but the girls got some goodies and we all had ice cream after!

I was not feeling too great afterwards so had a quiet evening of watching HGTV in bed!

Sunday

We brought back our family runs and started our day with 12km! The longest we have ran in months!

At home we had a picnic lunch outside, turned the sprinkler on for the girls and then my Grandma came to visit.

The girls are obsessed with parks right now so once Chloe was up we headed to a park we had not been to for awhile.

07 am hoping to make it to all the parks we can this year!

I totally missed the mark and planned tacos for supper when we should have had them Saturday – Oops!

Our week ahead is kinda busy, no real reason but I have a feeling it will fly by (again!).

Foodie Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

Our week seemed to fly by, we dd not even get in a park trip yet! We did have some backyard suppers, including Happy Meals on McHappy Day for the girls:

I cooked a killer tofu dish, I have always liked tofu but never baked it right but I got it down now!

The girls love spending the after work/after supper time in the yard which I love too!

Avery is her new favourite dress, there was almost tears when I went to wash it:

Onto meal planning for next week:

Saturday – Black Bean burgers (Costco) & salad

Sunday РChicken Avocado Tacos РGimme Delicious

Monday – Lemon Garlic Butter Shrimp with Asparagus & rice – with Peanut Butter on top

Tuesday – Tofu Scramble – Running on Real Food

Wednesday – 30 Minute Sesame Chicken Stir-Fry – Gimme Some Oven
