2018 Faves

I always love looking back on our year, we had some awesome adventures in 2018 and I know we will have even more in 2019.

2018 kicked off with a long and cold winter but thankfully we had a two week winter getaway to Arizona and California in February and March! While there we spent hours in the pool, visited friends in California and took the girls to Disneyland for the day – definitely the year’s highlight!

Chad and I ran the Phoenix full marathon while there too!

In April we were still able to go sledding! And wondering if spring was ever going to come! The Easter Bunny visited and Chloe turned 2!

Spring came and went and in May we had a heat wave! We spent lots of time in our bathing suits in the yard after that long winter! We went away for a weekend for a cousin’s wedding and planted our garden.

Summer was so much fun! We had a stay-cation in June and July went camping, to the lake, landscaped the backyard and potty trained Chloe!

We took our annual trip to the Calgary Zoo in June as well – this year seeing the pandas!

July’s highlights were Canada Day, the fair, and a 10km PR for me!

August was HOT! Which meant more lake days and time in out bathing suits. We took the girls to Calaway Park for the first time as well – on the one not hot day!

On the last day of August Avery started Kindergarten!

Like our MIA Spring, Fall did the same thing! We had a chilly September – we took a weekend trip to Canmore to run a race and see friends and had snow!

I turned 34 – AHH!!

We visited my brother and saw the University campus for the first time!

And went to the Kraay Farm!

In October Avery got her ears pierced, we hosted Thanksgiving and had the nicest Halloween I can remember!

November – Avery turned 5! We went to Disney on Ice and started Christmas celebrations!

December! All things Christmas this month, the Polar Express train, Christmas baking, Santa visits and more!

And that is a wrap on 2018!

Now we are ready to kick off 2019 and all the excitement it will bring!

Foodie Friday

So I lost track of my days and totally did not know today was Friday! For Christmas I got an InstaPot so next week I am going to start to try it out since I am seeing recipes for it everywhere!

Boxing Day we did a little shopping, I went for a run with a friend and then took down all the Christmas decor except the trees. Yesterday was a organize and purge day! Me and the girls tackled a lot and started to collect things for a spring garage sale. After Chloe’s nap we played outside and at the park to get rid of cabin fever – we cannot stay home all day without going crazy ūüėČ

Meal planning! This might be one of my last blog posts for meal planning – I am debating moving them to my Instagram Stories and saving them as a collection so they are always visible. Only downside? No links!

Saturday – Chad’s Grandma’s

Sunday -Vegan Sweet Potato Tofu Bowls – Running on Real Food

Monday Make Ahead Yeast Rolls and Creamy Roasted Mushroom Soup – Damn Delicious

TuesdayMango Black Bean Salad & InstaPot Lemon Garlic Chicken

Wednesday РInstaPot Chipotle Chicken Bowls with Cilantro Lime Quinoa  РSkinnytaste

Thursday – One Pot Veggie Spaghetti – Family Food

This weekend we are visiting with family and I am continuing my organize and purge mission! And probably will go out skating as well.

Christams 2018 Recap

Christmas was a blur – as you will see from the photos! With two little ones I did not expect it not be and it is so much fun! The girls LOVED every second of the past few days and were a tad excited. For the first time in years we did not host Christmas dinner which was a nice break and an escape from the house!

Christmas Eve the girls and I hung out at home, my Grandma visited then later we had my family and Chad’s Dda & Step-Mom over for Chinese food.

Checking for Santa:

Christmas Eve gift opening – pjs!

Christmas morning the girls slept until 6am – we took an hour to open gifts before getting ready and having my family for breakfast and more gifts.

All she wanted was chocolate…

After lunch we headed to Chad’s Moms house for supper and a visit.

We were all spoiled and now I have the urge to purge and organize!

Now I am welcoming a few quieter days at home now with the girls.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Weekend Snapshots

Merry Christmas Eve! Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!

Our annual family Christmas photo thanks to the self timer:

This weekend we got out skating finally! I am hoping for more sunny days over the holiday break to get out more – the girls love skating!

Avery had been asking for bath bombs so I decided we would attempt to make some our own:

We also had our first Christmas Sunday, our share of Christmas drinks & treats and watched Christmas movies all weekend!

Be back later this week with our Christmas recap!

Foodie Friday

ear.Anyone else celebrating the last day of work/school before Christmas holidays today? We are! I am lucky to be off every Christmas until the New Year but the 11 days fly by!

This week continued to be too nice for December which prompted another lunch run – probably the nicest in a long time!

Bath time fun with our favourite Rocky Mountain Soap bubbles:

It was kind of a rough week for the kids – just easily irritable – I blame the Christmas excitement – who can blame them?!

On to meal planning! For the first time in 5 years I am not hosting Christmas dinner!! I love doing it but it is a busy couple of days so I am glad for the break this year.

My plan this week and next is to double a few supper meals to make freezer meals for the new year.

Saturday – Fish Tacos

Sunday – Family Christmas #1

Monday – Christmas Eve tradition – Chinese food

Tuesday – Christmas Dinner – I am supplying a few vegan dishes!

Wednesday – Shrimp Pesto Pasta

Thursday – Vegan Enchiladas with Cilantro Avocado Cream Sauce – Oh She Glows

Friday – Turkey Kale Pasta Bake – ifoodreal

Weekend plans – We are hoping to go skating a couple times, maybe sneak out for a date night, and have our first family Christmas!
