Weekend Recap

Jumping right into our weekend:

I was off work a little early so headed home to see Chad and the girls since he had the day off at home with them. It was his first full day solo with them! And of course, did great 🙂

I had my (belated) work Christmas party so my Mom came over to watch the girls while we headed there. We had supper and went bowling. Even though I hate bowling it was a blast! I even managed two strikes the one game!

Be jealous of my technique:

Dance class was back after after a holiday break and I was unsure of how it would go but it was the best yet!

I am pretty sure she only goes for the outfit and shoes:

The girls love playing under the table these days:

The afternoon was so nice out so we headed to the outdoor rink with the girls:

Avery skated for 45 minutes and would not let us help her! Chloe loved playing on the ice, do not worry we were the only ones there 😉

Chloe fell asleep near the end and stayed asleep:

We promised Avery a movie night for having such a great day so once Chloe was in bed she picked Finding Dory. We went to bed right after since we were all tired!

Our morning was spent getting in our long run – finally outside again! We did 16.5km and called it a day since Avery was getting antsy. I have learned flexibility is key with getting runs done these days!

Avery got pick our afternoon activity and wanted to go skating again so off we went.

She pulled Chloe to the rink:

Such a sunny day!

The rest of the day was spent getting ready for the week, laundry, punches, baking muffins and chores 🙂

Foodie Friday

Well it is my last post of 2016. I really have no idea where this year went! This week was short and we spent the last few days enjoying being outside since the weather has been good. It is also bittersweet as Tuesday the girls start dayhome! Crazy. I am so ready to go back to work, but am also worried about Chloe adjusting to dayhome. Anyways here are some photos from our week:

Avery tried skating for the first time. I bought the bob skates that attach to boots for a couple reasons – one, they are $12 vs $40 and I was not spending $40 for her to hate skating. Two, she can keep her feet in boots, much warmer than skates and lastly, with real skates Avery would fall once and she would be done. I told her once she can do a lap with these skates she can get princess ones 😉

The first time did not go great as she refused to dress warm:

Day two was much better – since she dressed warm, shocker!

I am so happy we have this double sled, it has been put to good use lately! We also saw some calf moose on our walk!

Avery loves playing in the crib with Chloe when she wakes up:

Chloe loves Avery so much but Chloe is totally the annoying little sister to her these days…

Okay onto meal planning:

Saturday – Chicken fingers and salad

Sunday – Garlic Lovers Salmon and Southwestern Quinoa Salad – Gimme Some Oven

Monday – Chicken Noodle Casserole – Life in the Lofthouse

Tuesday – Turkey Lasagna

Wednesday – Lime Shrimp Dragon Noodles & broccoli – Budget Bytes

This weekend we are visiting family, going to our friends for NYE and getting in a long run, oh and finally taking down the Christmas tree – everything else is down but Avery wanted the tree up longer.

Have a fun and safe NYE!

Foodie Friday

Morning! How was everyone’s Valentine’s Day? I hope that no matter what you were able to spend it with loved ones.

Yesterday morning I woke up a bit early to make the usual Valentine’s Day breakfast, pink pancakes!

We exchanged gifts in the morning as well. I bought Chad Bernard Callebaut chocolates, and a book from Chapters called “The Story of Us” – it is a book that you fill out about you and your significant other. At first I thought this would be easy but it turned out to be tricky! I had some blanks that we can fill out together still. The most random question (to me) was “If you had a boat together what would it be named?”. I have no clue still!

Chad woke up when I was in the shower and put my presents in the main bathroom (where I blow-dry my hair):

He hid two iTunes cards in the Pink Elephant popcorn as well!

After work we got home and I had a FedEx notice on the door so we quickly ran back out to pick up the package. I was in complete surprise when I opened it:

A Valentine’s Day surprise from Mott’s Garden Cocktail! And three roses too 🙂 I have never had vegetable juice so am quite curious to try it.

Chad poured us champagne and started supper. On the menu was Peanut Chicken Satay with Grapefruit (From Iowa Girl Eats) served with quinoa and asparagus. We have made this recipe before and it never disappoints.

After supper Chad planned for us to go skating at Bower Ponds. It was a nice night to do so. I had not been skating in 9-10 years so happy to report that I did not fall.

So much fun!

I decided to help out with dessert. I cut up bananas and smeared peanut butter on won ton wrappers then wrapped up the bananas. Then I added coconut oil to a pan and fried the won ton banana rolls on medium for 5-6 minutes. We served them with ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was my first time having Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. We picked up this flavor:

Such a delicious dessert! I wanted seconds for sure.

And that was our night, low-key and perfect.

Onto Foodie Friday…. Here in next week’s meal plans:

Saturday – Stuffed Quinoa Peppers – The Healthy Wife

Sunday – Almond Tilapia & Asparagus & Potato Salad (Oh She Glows)

Monday – Creamy Curry Chickpea Soup – Daily Garnish

Tuesday – Superfood Salad – Iowa Girl EatsWe were supposed to have this tonight but we have too many leftovers to eat up!

Wednesday – Quick and Easy Creamy Tomato and Mushroom Pasta – Oh She Glows

Thursday – Pizza at a co-workers

Friday – Taco Salad

And it’s a long weekend!! I forgot about it until a few days ago. Tonight I am going to see Safe Haven with my Mom, I read the book a few months ago and it is easily my favorite Nicholas Sparks’ book. Tomorrow we have errands to run and a friend’s birthday get together, then besides a couple gym trip we got very little going on! I am thinking I might finally figure out the sewing machine I got two years ago and have yet to use…

Any fun long weekend plans out there?

What is your favorite type of ice cream?

I am not picky but like anything with a good mix of chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter is a added bonus!
