Foodie Friday

Yesterday at about 3pm it hit me that it was Thursday and I better get on this post! I am still seriously struggling in the meal planning these days, I just have no ideas!

We spent the morning at a program at Avery’s dance studio, it was our second time and we loved it. I am sad that in January they are offering it more than once a month and we cannot go 🙁

Naps (for Avery) are more rare these days so instead she gets to pick one quiet activity that she does alone – she picked decorating a couple stars:

We had an early supper as I had a neighbourhood association meeting that night.

Avery had a dentist appointment first thing in the morning, she did great and he was really impressed with how clean her teeth are! He quickly looked at Chloe too and she showed off her two new teeth 😉

After we headed to the library, might be the last weekday trip there in awhile! The rest of the day was a tad rough, Avery was just in a bad mood so we stayed home and tried to keep busy:

Oh and I managed to run 7km on the treadmill with a million stops – thanks kids 😉

Another morning appointment – why did I book everything the same week?! This time for Avery to get a haircut.

After we stopped at Starbucks and since their app was down it was free!

We actually stayed home the rest of the day! Chloe got in some good naps, practiced a lot of crawling and trouble making and Avery and I made & decorated sugar cookies.

Since we missed yoga Tuesday we went yesterday morning, Avery started off in a bad mood but shortly after we got there she was good. We came from for a quick lunch – aka all the snacks then headed back out to my hair appointment, just a trim but I need to learn how to curl my hair in minutes like my hairdresser!

We stayed home in the afternoon and kept busy playing:

I met Chad after work (he just took he girls home) at my spin studio to take advantage of a donation glow ride.

I also won one of the prizes, a Swell water bottle – which I was wanting to get!

Meal planning:

Saturday – Chicken Fajita Quesadillas – Jo Cooks

Sunday – Sweet Potato Chickpea Coconut Curry – One Ingredient Chef

Monday – Crockpot Pulled Chicken & salad – Family Fresh Meals

Tuesday – Bison Cabbage Casserole (freezer meal)

Wednesday – Omelettes

Thursday – Gourmet Mac & Cheese

Friday – Roasted Red Pepper, hummus and feta sandwich – Two Peas & their Pod

Tonight Avery and I are off to see the Nutcracker then this weekend we do not have a ton of plans besides our annual Christmas lights drive!

Foodie Friday

ONE month until Christmas you guys! I am happy to say my shopping is 98% done which makes me pretty darn happy.

Monday morning we went to a new class to us at the dance studio Avery will start at next week. Once a month they offer a free class for ages 5 months to 5 years that combines play time, dance and music – it was amazing. Chloe loved it! Avery was being a threeanger after an incident so I let her be while I had fun with Chloe.

I was not going to share the incident but need to see if I am being crazy about this. So Avery was playing with the pony in the photo below and two other girls that were older than her were playing at the table too. Avery had to pee and was worried someone would take the purple pony I told her we would be right back and it woudl be fine. Well it was not, the one girl swooped in and took it. Avery got upset when we came back and the Dad looked at me and said “she is made because my daughter took the pony she was playing with”. UMM WHAT?! Tell her to give it back then, It annoyed me since they heard me say that it would be okay and then did not tell her she should give it back. At least that is what I would have done… Rant over 😉

After naps we picked up a price package I won at the market I went to last week, I was so happy it had one of these monsters in it and a sign that was perfect for the one area I needed something for:

Yoga morning!  Followed by banana bread making and a workout with my little helper:

Later, we went to a local greenhouse with my Mom since they have a Christmas shop, they had a great set up and even a carriage like Cinderella’s – Avery was in heaven!

20161122_155016 screenshot_20161122-210221

Chloe all bundled up:

We decided to go to morning craft time at the museum, Avery made a sun catcher and bookmarks – meaning I made bookmarks. She is not into crafts at all right now.

20161123_094647 20161123_123708

Of course we played after too:

Oh and we picked up some new to us ballet clothes for Avery since she starts next week – she is SO excited!

After supper I escaped to my first yoga class in 9 months! EEEK. It was perfect and that night was the first night in months I did not have achy hips!

A morning treadmill run while Chloe napped an Avery turned the gym into her baby’s nursery;

My Grandma visited us most of the morning, so we just played and visited. This little girl is SO smiley these days!

We spent the rest of the day going to get some groceries and attempting a craft – which I am still not done, it should say 30+ not 6+ 😉

20161124_143925 20161124_153416

I had this post done and saved, then our power went out and I lost it ALL. Want to know the worst part? I have NO idea what I meal planned the first time around!

Saturday – Sweet Potato Black Bean Quinoa Bowls – Recipe Runner

Sunday – Garden Vegetable Lasagna Soup – Budget Bytes

Monday – Tuna Casserole

Tuesday – Greek Turkey Tacos – Whitney Bond

Wednesday – BLT Chopped Salad – How Sweet It Is

Thursday – Breakfast for supper!

Friday – My Christmas Party!

We have another busy weekend, our local Festival of Trees, a kid’s show/performance, our long run and a Christmas brunch!

Foodie Friday

I completely forgot it was a holiday week this week! Avery’s birthday distracts me and I forget every year now. Yesterday, we celebrated Avery turning three – I still am shock where these last few years have gone!

We went to the library in the morning and took out all Christmas books! Tis’ the season I guess!

After naps we went for a walk to the park but kept it short since the wind was kind of cold.

I thought I did something productive that evening but no idea what now! Mom brain 😉

Yoga playground morning which meant a latte and half marathon planning for me. A friend also showed up so we chatted while the kids were in class too. It was so nice they had their overhead door open at 9am!

Later we went out for a 7km run (I think since I am still figuring our new watch out!) then went to the playground and did not get home until 5pm!

20161108_151331 20161108_154043 screenshot_20161108-194052 screenshot_20161108-193843 20161108_155002

Avery was in heaven with all the kids that were there, it was the busiest I have every seen it.

That night I am sure you can guess what we did, drank wine and watched the election go down. I love politics more and more these days but I save those thoughts for else where!

We spent the morning at home, playing games, baking Avery’s cake and more marathon planning.

Chloe had a short nap since she had her pediatrician appointment (I hate waking up kids!). The GREAT news? She was released from their care! She gained 10oz in a week where they look for 5-7. They told me it was bad timing with her moving more, puking more and being distracted eating and then at her 6 month appointment it looked worse than it is. But we are in the clear now and she finally broke 13lbs!

She LOVES bottles! Check out that belly – finally!

We made a pit stop at Starbucks and the grocery store then headed home. The rest of my day was spent finishing A’s cake, making cookies for the party and setting up her gifts for the morning.

screenshot_20161109-211047 20161110_070134

I put balloons in her room and the hall for when she woke up -and then she woke up and told me that it made her angry since it was dark and she could not see them. Three year olds 😉 She was so excited to see her gifts out!

It took her a solid hour to eat her birthday muffin since she was so excited about it being her birthday.

Chad got her a Rebels jersey and tickets to a hockey game, I bought her a necklace and clip-on earnings and Chloe got her Ariel PJs. She had a few other gifts from grandparents as well.

20161110_085214 20161110_085219

She insisted Chloe wear the crown that came in her birthday card, Chloe was less than thrilled 😉

Her birthday request was Treehouse (my nightmare!) so we met my Grandma there mid morning. It was also a PD day at schools so it was insane but the girls had fun that is until we had to go at lunch and Avery was mad. Thankfully it was short lived and she was happy by the time we drove home.

The girls napped from 1-3:40pm – amazing and my only regret was I did not workout after naps that long! We went to the park for a little, then Chad came home with flowers for Avery – she thought this was the best. Avery also got to pick supper – Subway. My Mom, brother, Preston and his girlfriend joined us for cake: screenshot_20161110-164229 20161110_165036  20161110_192738

It was after 9:30pm by the time everyone left and I was more than ready for bed!

Onto meal planning. I have to admit that usually I have a decent idea going into this post what we will eat but these last few weeks I end up planning as I do this post!

Saturday – TBA – It is Avery’s party so leftovers from lunch?

Sunday – OUT – Family birthday supper for Avery and my brother, Tanner

Monday – Vegetable Enchilada Casserole – Budget Bytes

Tuesday – Slow Cooker White Chili Chicken – Budget Bytes

Wednesday – Mexican Chicken Pasta – Gimme Some Oven

Thursday – Slow Cooker Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps – Cooking Classy

Our weekend consists of Avery’s party and our family birthday supper Sunday and that will keep us more than busy!

Foodie Friday

It goes without saying that this week fly by again! This week we saw very little sunshine so I am hoping this weekend it comes back to see us 🙂

We had a quiet day at home, only going out for a bit to meet a friend and her little girl for lunch. I wish I took some photos of her and Chloe. She is so happy and smiley and adorable! It was great to see them and go out for lunch.

20161024_152639 20161024_152449

How playtime goes these days, Chloe wants everything A has, Avery takes it away, bugs her, Chloe gets mad and repeat 😉

That night after Chloe was in bed we let Avery stay up late and decorated/carved pumpkins.

20161024_191615 20161024_194526 20161024_200544

Best dad ever, did an Ariel pumpkin for Avery!

Yoga playground morning! Avery made a ghost that she was so proud of:

Chloe only napped an hour for her mid-day nap so she got to help me with my DIY project:

And I made her practice her crawling 😉

I went to spin that night and got my butt kicked after not going for a couple weeks. My goal is to go weekly!

My Grandma spent the morning with us, we went to McDonalds for coffee and just visited. Nap time was spent finishing up my DIY (below) and on party prep for Avery’s party.

I made banana bread and this little one cannot even see a banana without losing it so while I baked she got her banana.

I decided to get out for a walk and it was a tad chilly – Avery hates being cold but still will not wear mitts…But we made the best of it.

screenshot_20161026-165249 screenshot_20161026-161426

Chad had a work function so my Mom joined us at Subway for supper once she was off work. Chad got home just in time for bedtime stories and that was our night.

The morning was spent watching Casper, I love that I can now share my favourite things as a kid with Avery, like watching holiday movies! Casper is probably my favourite Halloween movie up there with Practical Magic.

We all had eye appointments late morning and all passed with flying colours, Avery did so good and Chloe too!

I have been aiming to get out for at least one run a week while the weather is still good so after naps we went for a 6km run.

We had an early supper as soon as Chad was home then headed to a local Halloween event where there was games and crafts for kids.

Onto meal planning…

Saturday – OUT

Sunday – Turkey Tacos

Monday – Grilled cheese & soup – easy for the big night!

Tuesday – Asian Garlic Noodles with shrimp – Damn Delicious

Wednesday – Greek Chicken Salad & garlic toast

Thursday – Chicken Noodle Casserole – Life in the Lofthouse

Friday – Chicken fingers & kale salad

This weekend Chloe starts swimming lessons (which I almost forgot about!), we are going to a Halloween event out of town and that is all!

Foodie Friday

I came down with a cold this week (insert sobs) after Avery had the sniffles last week I should have known it was coming. Luckily my last cold was last September and this one only lasted a few days.

I started my morning with my new workout program for the next couple months:

More on this next week!

I spent the morning in the kitchen armed with a can of pumpkin, pumpkin breakfast cookies and muffins:

Oh and teething cookies for Chloe which she threw on the ground – apparently she was not a fan so Mum Mums it is!

After naps we headed out for a walk and to the park:

20160919_154221 20160919_154100

Becky had invited me to a Pilates class at Studio Pilates that evening and while I was not feeling the best I could not pass it up. We did an hour long apparatus class which was really awesome. I could see myself doing more for sure. It focused a ton on core strength and stability which is exactly my focus right now.

img_7526Local people – watch Becky’s blog over the next couple of months – she is doing a feature on local workouts and gyms to give you all the down-low on what is available here!

I woke up feeling like death 🙁 I managed to get Avery out of the house for yoga playground and then run a couple errands before heading back home.

My Mom brought me medication and Booster Juice at lunch and then I crawled into bed for a bit. After being in bed for a bit Avery ran into my bedroom and told me she was hiding in the bonus room – aka not napping. Sigh.

The rest of the day we spent hibernating, which meant endless tea parties, TV shows and messes. I did make pumpkin spice balls to be a little productive:

20160920_152445 20160920_122723 20160920_160148

That night Chad started to feel sick too so we were both in bed before 9pm!

I woke up pretty sore from Pilates and the flu/cold did not help! We had a long morning at home so by 10am we went for a walk, took some more fall photos and went to Starbucks.

img_9114 img_9087 img_9069 img_9067

img_9100 img_9113 img_9079

I asked Avery to take a photo of me, she totally nailed it:

I started to feel flu like around lunch so took some medication and rested during nap time. After naps we headed out for a 5km run then to the park.

We watched the Big Brother finale that night and the girl I wanted to win did – Woot woot!! Now what to do with all our evenings?! 😉

I wanted to run in the morning but it is too chilly for me (wimp, I know) so instead I did PiYo. We finished a fall craft:

I have no idea why this was under a toddler craft, all she did was pick the leaves and branch. The leaves were soaked in glycerin to preserve them though the colours did fade. Now to find a home for it!

Avery and Chloe love playing blocks these days, meaning Chloe steals them all and it annoys Avery.

20160922_112346I did a power clean and started this post during naps so we could go get our Jungle Farm veggies after.

Becky joined us for supper (Chopped Leaf) and then we got ready for our Lorna Jane Party. Seriously so much cute stuff – if you did not come you missed out 😉

I ended up getting crops and a bra:

Their store is opening in Calgary next month so make sure you follow them for details!
